Car Fixing Tips

Power window – It can be a pain to drive a car with a non-working power window. The power window of the driver’s seat is very important; else, the driver would have to open the entire door while asking for directions or any other purpose like adjusting the rear view mirror. Windows play a very crucial role and a non-working window can be irritating. You cannot even pull down the windows for some fresh air. At times, you may wish to feel the natural breeze instead of the air conditioning but a non-functioning window can be a hurdle. We suggest some car repairing tips to help you fix the faults on your own.

Even if you do not want to repair the window on your own, it helps to identify the cause of the problem. This way you will be in a better position to talk to the auto mechanic. They will not dupe you if you have some knowledge about the mechanism. One of the most common problems related to power window is the switch. A faulty switch would require replacement. Some other problems would include faulty motor, cable being off the pulleys or the window gets stuck and may require some lubrication. Test the switch by pressing it hard. If this works then it indicates that the switch is bad and needs repairing. However, if pressing the switch hard does not work then the fixing cost may be high since the motor may need replacement.
Foul smell in the car is another problem that can be solved at home. You do not need any mechanic for fixing this condition. All you would need is an odor treatment. Simply wipe the air conditioning vents with odor treatment and allow some natural air to flow inside the car. Pull down the windows while driving on a non-polluted road.

Change the engine oil on your own to save money. It hardly takes half an hour and is very easy. All you need is a pair of gloves, engine oil and a filter. Open the bonnet and unlock the seal of engine tank. Check if the filter is dirty or rusty, it does not require replacement if it is clean. Remove the old oil from the bottom, there is a seal that needs to be opened. Collect this old oil and sell it off. Some gas stations will buy old oil. Put the new oil and you are done.

So you see fixing up a car is not such a big deal.
