3 Simple Car Repair Tips For Used Car Owners

A used car can be a bit difficult to manage; it often breaks down at the wrong time. It is important to ensure that the engine is up and running. It may require regular servicing, maybe once in a month to keep a check on all the parts of the engine. Though simple car breakdowns can be handled on your own, complex problems need expert attention. We suggest three simple car repair tips to help you sail through difficult times.

Does your car often stop in the middle of the road for no apparent reason? Well, there may be a reason which you are not aware of.  The most common reason for this kind of car behavior is the temperature. If there is some goof up in the internal parts of the engine, the temperature may rise and the car becomes hot. When you leave it for a few minutes, it becomes a little cool and starts working again. This is a common problem that many car owners face. However, this situation is not very bad or difficult to handle, provided you know what to do. In this article, we intend to throw light on car fixing at unexpected times.

As mentioned earlier, sudden car breakdown occurs due to rise in the temperature of the car. This could happen because of three reasons, the coolant is less, the coolant tank is leaky or the gasket is affected. You can fix these three problems in a simple manner; read on to learn how to fix a car.

Step  1 – Check the Coolant - It is like a lubricant for the internal system. It keeps the metal pipes in good condition. The texture of the coolant is a little oily and greasy so that the metal engine does not catch rust. Coolant is usually mixed with water before use. As the name suggests, it is meant for keeping the temperature cool, however, this should not be taken literally.   When you read further you will be able to understand how it works. As of now, it is important to know that the level of coolant (mixed with water) should not be low. There is a plastic coolant tank in the bonnet and it has a marking that indicates the required level for coolant. Check if the desired level is there in the tank. This is the first step towards fixing up a car.

Step  2 – Coolant tank – This tank has a plastic body and a pipe that is connected to the gasket. There is one more pipe, which is inside the cap and touches the bottom on the coolant tank. Problems usually occur when the pipes are either not connected or damaged. This leads to leakage of the coolant.  Sometimes, the tank may have a small hole through which the coolant leaks. Check this tank carefully to see if there is some problem.

Step  3 - Gasket – This part of the engine plays a very important role. It needs to be handled very carefully. When the temperature of the car rises, the cap of the gasket expands and contracts, this leads to the flow of coolant from the tank to the gasket and back to the tank. This is a continuous process, which turns the fan on. The mechanism is such that the fan cools the engine and thus the temperature level is controlled. If there is any fault in the movement of the coolant or the fan, it can lead to car breakdown. This fan cools the engine and your car runs smoothly. So you see car repairing is not that difficult. All you need is a keen eye.
